Hey, you with the frown! You’ve heard of crowdfunding, right? Well that’s a good start. The concept of altruistic ‘giving’ may seem complicated to some, but it’s not just fancy new technologies and promising sounding supernatural book series that are getting funded. People are also starting to use crowdfunding websites to source cash to pay for their medical bills. And people being people, are kindly offering to pay up.
A number of specific crowdfunding websites such as Human Tribe Project, GiveForward, GoFundMe and FundRazr are attracting growing numbers of Americans who need a little help covering the costs of their own or their family’s medical needs.
As well as friends and wider networks, kind strangers are also keen to donate to causes, which range, as most medical issues do, from life threatening diseases to lighter issues with a much smaller price tag.
While crowdfunding might not be a new concept, it seems that general public reception of people’s generosity still comes as a surprise to many. But it makes sense on so many levels. People are innately good; when some of us are in trouble, why on earth wouldn’t we want to help them when we can?
That’s certainly a reason to turn that frown upside down.
Inspired? Search and give to causes now.
