A big-hearted ice cream shop owner in an American town called Dorchester, Massachusetts, decided to give free ice cream to his local community today, in a bid to stick it back together following a nasty attack on a young mother that happened earlier in the week.
The kind shop owner, Joe Conway, told local newspaper Boston Globe: “It’s really good to see people come out, be here, and support each other.”
More than 70 people queued to get their free scoops of ‘Monster Mash’, from Slavin Scoop, the same store that Joe Conway had seen the stabbing victim, Angeleek Barros, collapse outside of the week before. He had rushed to help her to stem the wounds and thankfully she is now in a stable condition.
While the incident has shaken up the community, Joe’s free ice cream is a simple act of kindness that hopes to bring people together and remind them that when bad things happen, people aren’t all bad, and communities that stick together feel stronger. Sweet, in way more ways than one.
